My house.....gobble gobble
haven\'t even thought about it really.
thanksgiving is on thursday.. so probably the usual sundubu-jiggae maybe get a western style meal at outback or bennigans on the following saturday night while I\'m in Jongno
I refuse, refute, and ignore any posts that are not realizing the absolute need for non korean.......yes.....NON korean...non sarcastical....need for a real turkey......not tofurkey, not sundubu-jiggae ..........I demand and WILL acquire a dead non chicken bird on my plate stuffed with breading and served alongside cranberry sauce....... Outback and bennigans here are as \'western\' as taco bell is \'mexican\'
do you live close enough to itaewon to go there on a worknight? do you know anywhere to buy canned yams or jelly cranberry sauce?
Its Thanksgiving!!!! That is an automatic Sick Day in my book!!! If the Koreans don\'t like that, they shouldn\'t hire forginers! If you do enough searching you can find fresh \"Real\" turkeys here. Also many of the big hotels will have a turkey dinner on the menu that night.
canned yams and cranberry not an issue the turkey is the problem. Having turkey on THE day is less important than HAVING turkey. Im cool with waiting till the weekend need be
good question...i might just avoid it because nothing can compare you know?
I had turkey for xmas in Korea last year, I didnt have anything to do with buying, however I do know that it was bought at the homeplus in yongtong, suwon, they even cooked it for us, I dont think there was nay stuffing in there, maybe get a korean to call a homeplus and check... and let me know if you get a thanksgiving dinner together, I\'d def. be up for some turket :D
SAKI!!!!!! when did you come back?!! so good to see you back here again!!! :grin :grin
they serve a really good thanksgiving meal at the dragon hill lodge hotel in yongsan and it is inexpensive the only problem is that you need to know someone with a pass to get into the army base ..the steak and lobster is really good there too much better than the leathery stuff they try to pass off as steak in most decent restaurants in seoul....and the breakfast buffet on Sundays is really good also ..the omelettes are so fluffy and they are all made to order..I have the midnight munchies...I could go for a cheese enchilada right now..by the way does anyone know of a really good mexican restaurant in seoul? sorry to get off the subject of Thanksgiving..
Mexican, best ive found are Margaritas in Hongdae, Dos Tacos in Hongdae and gangnam and theres a great little place right outside the hanyang Uni sub stop
The Food at DHL rules!! Best in Korea!
What is DHL??
DHL is the Dragon Hill Lodge. If you get a chance to get on post, I highly suggest it.....Oasis is a fine tex/mex resturant that makes some killer ribs and smoked beef. Bentlies is a nice bar, that serves a great micro brew, $15 pictures of long island ice teas, 10 cent shrimp on Wendsdays, and great burgers. And the Subway there uses \"real\" meat, not that processed surprise meat.
im a veteran, not sure what that would do to help me get on base. Im a GUY so cant plug the cute female route to the base........argh
woody, i\'m certain i can introduce you to some lonely guys who could get u on base....personally i think you would look rather fetching in a dress and heels, add a bit of mascara and I am certain you will make a rather handsome looking female...i\'ll even help you shave your legs if you like!! lol
Ok all: I just got my turkey, a nice 14 pound bird. They have them at the Hannam Supermarket. Here\'s the web address: http://www.hannammarket.co.kr/main.php?english=yes
You Rock! Have yet to go to this supermarket, reason now fully to go. Cheers
woody..the next obstacle, hate to piss on your bbq matey, but have you an oven? if you do i will make the gravy n veg if you will supply some hot turkey!! (once again i am hitting a guy up for meat!!) LMAO
Got some mates with full ovens Ill be hitting up. Up to 2 options now. Otherwise found a place that is on their 7th annual full thanksgiving dinner. Turkey will be mine Rooohaha!!
You\'ll love the Hannam supermarket, even after turkey day.....They have alot there....food that actually looks and smells like food...hahaha, and the place is clean! You can get \"real\" cold cuts, cheezes, pastas, vegies, etc....Even \"fresh\"rye bread!!!
dammit, looks like i will be missing out on the third turkey meal of the year!! seriously...us brits only eat it at xmas, but since i been here, with canadian and then american thanskgivings i am clocking up the turkey dinners something chronic!! Personally, the part i\'m looking forward to the most is drunk people everywhere cheering at each other in the street...nothing gives you that warm glow inside like a festival...haloween rocked..shame you guys dont have guy fawkes night nov 5th coz that is usually tons of fun back home
oh my god..purestock that rocks!!! herbs n stuff...mnnn mnnnm.....i sense kats kitchen will be reopening for business!! lol
BREAKFAST, AFTERNOON AND ASSORTED BRITISH TEAS...plus FRENCH BUTTER.....purestock you have made my life complete (now to find a reputable supplier of Hobnob cookies and Korea will officially have to be linguistically upgraded to \"heaven on earth!!\")
Since my original problem (turkey) is now solved and were off topic. Kat saw this and thought of you
